			<content:encoded><![CDATA[	<p>Eight PhD positions available at MI Lab, Faculty of Medicine (DMF 21-10)</p>
	<p>MI Lab (Medical Imaging Laboratory for Innovative Future Healthcare) is an inter-disciplinary research centre integrating industry, hospital and university. The overall goal is to facilitate better health care and improved patient treatment through research and innovation in medical imaging.<br />

MI Lab is located in Trondheim, Norway, in the fully integrated university hospital, St. Olavs Hospital. Its main success factor is creating an environment of close daily collaboration between medical doctors and technology researchers. At present the multi-disciplinary research team includes PhD students and post doctors with the following backgrounds:</p>

Physiology<br />
Mathematics<br />
ICT<br />
Molecular biology</p>
	<p>The MI Lab partners are St. Olavs Hospital, GE Vingmed Ultrasound, FAST, MediStim, Sonowand, NordicNeuroLab, Arctic Silicon Devices, Odetect, CorTechs Labs and Sintef.</p>

	<p>The PhD positions will have different tasks in the areas of ultrasound technology, including acoustics, probe design, electronics, signal processing and image/video analysis. Also clinical research projects in applications of a new pocket-sized ultrasound scanner, and heart and brain imaging with MR and Ultrasound are available.</p>
	<p>We will to some extent tailor each PhD project to the candidates special competence and interests.</p>
	<p>Master students in their last year are also encouraged to apply.<br />
These applicants will be evaluated on the same line as other applicants, but may only start a PhD fellowship after finished Masters&#8217;s degree.</p>
	<p>MI Lab and NTNU want to attract outstanding and creative candidates who can contribute to our ongoing research activities.</p>
	<p>In the evaluation the main criteria will be:</p>
	<p>the academic quality of the applicant<br />
the ability to work in an interdisciplinary research team<br />
personal creativity and innovation<br />
the candidate&#8217;s motivation for the position<br />
Qualificaions and practical information:</p>
	<p>For a PhD position a Master&#8217;s degree or equivalent is required with at least 5 years of studies and an average grade of A or B within a scale of A-E for passing grades (A best).<br />
Applicants must also be able to communicate fluently in English (spoken and written).</p>
	<p>Selected applicants will be invited to undergo an interview. If none of the applicants holds up to the high standards of MI Lab, it may be decided not to hire any of the applicants.</p>
	<p>The duration of a PhD fellowship is 3 years.</p>

	<p>Applications from all countries are welcome. Trondheim is an ideal place to combine an academic career with a good personal life. Norway, like other Scandinavian countries, has generous rules for both maternity and paternity leave. Professional daycare for children is easily available. Trondheim has two international schools with English as the language of instruction, including Pre-school, Primary - and Middle school. Having a population of 160 000, Trondheim is a small city by international standards, and thus has low crime rates, little pollution, and easy access to a beautiful countryside. Still, the city can rival many larger cities in the availability of cultural facilities, having a professional theater, a professional symphony orchestra, and a soccer football club, Rosenborg, which regularly qualifies for Champions League. The Trondheim Municipal School of Music and Culture is outstanding, and caters for all levels of talent and a wide variety of cultural genres.</p>

	<p>Salary is according to the general policies of NTNU.<br />
Depending on qualifications and academic background, Research Fellows at the Faculty of Medicine will be remunerated at wage levels 45-55 on the Norwegian State salary scale, with gross salary from NOK 353 000 - NOK 420 600 a year, of which 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. A yearly amount for operating costs will be added.</p>
	<p>The successful applicant must agree to the conditions laid down for public employees in Norway.</p>

	<p>The application must contain information about education, examinations and previous experience, and also a short description of the applicants&#8217; motivation for the position. Certified copies of testimonies and documents must be attached, and all documents must be in English (unless they already are in a Scandinavian language). Copies of publications and any other work which the applicant wishes to be taken into account should also be enclosed. Joint works will be considered. If it is difficult to specify the input of the applicant in a joint work, a short summary should be attached outlining the applicant&#8217;s input.</p>

	<p>The 1-year Master in Public Administration (MPA) programme provides an intensive, interdisciplinary course of study for experienced professionals who wish to acquire new knowledge and skills to enhance their leadership and managerial capabilities. This innovative programme can be taken full-time or part-time.<br />

	<p>Taught by expert faculty using a problem-based learning approach and real-world case studies, MPA students learn to apply the techniques of policy analysis and programme evaluation to resolve complex multi-dimensional policy challenges, as well as sharpen their leadership and communication skills. The School also conducts an active programme of seminars and public lectures by political, not-for-profit and business leaders to enable all students to complement their formal learning with the opportunity to interact with distinguished individuals who are shaping the future.</p>
	<p>The MPA class comprises approximately 60 accomplished and motivated individuals who bring with them a wealth of diverse experiences to enhance the classroom learning experience. Students come from many different countries – from Southeast Asia, South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific and Africa. They work in a variety of sectors such as finance, trade, education, media, health, transport, housing, foreign affairs and development. Despite their short time together, or perhaps because of the shared experience of learning and working under tremendous pressure, MPA students forge an enduring international network of professional and personal contacts.</p>
	<p>The School expects its MPA graduates to serve in a wide range of middle- to senior-level positions in the government, non-profit organisations, international organisations and the private sector.</p>
	<p>Scholarships</p>
	<p>The scholarships below are offered on a competitive basis. Applicants must have good academic and professional records. They must also have demonstrated leadership and a desire to contribute to public service. Not all the awards will be made unless thereare candidates of sufficient merit. Scholars may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship or award without the prior approval of the School.There is no bond or obligation for the scholar to be employed by NUS or in Singapore, except for the Lien Foundation scholarship.</p>

	<p>CapitaLand LKYSPP Scholarship</p>
	<p>The CapitaLand LKYSPP Scholarship is available to full-time students who are citizens of ASEAN countries (except Singapore), India or the People’s Republic of China. Please refer to Note 1 for the terms of this scholarship.</p>
